It is disappointing, since RS3 genuinely has the capability to be among the greatest MMO's accessible, but the higher ups have seemingly gotten really slack with it. I had been expecting that they would be able to ATLEAST use the immense MTX gains on earning the game's graphic fidelity constant, but it never happened, even though they supposedly source their graphic function to numerous third party businesses.
I fear they're going out to cash and abandon it entirely since OSRS gold is performing better with nowhere near the quantity of MTX (that can be deserved tbh. I like spending time in here and see what's going on with the other half of the RuneScape loved ones, and it feels like that the Devs are all actual fans of this game and genuinely want to see it improve and grow in the long term.
I do still lay the majority of the blame on the higher ups).
It is just a sucky situation to observe the game such as this tbh. What really hurts most of all is the abundance of potential it's that Jagex refuses to capitalize because the higher ups are afraid of putting money in for the (admittedly tons of) work it would take.
I recall after the last Runefest, most felt that Buy Rs gold did greater than OSRS because it had bigger things on the background. I am sure others would disagree with me, but ever since Runefest I anticipated 2020 to be a slow year for OSRS and that has kind of been true; we have a couple of decent-sized upgrades but nothing that important (unless you count the league, which will be fair).
