Most new gamers spend almost no time at the GE. My spouse just started playing and she didn't even find that a single spam bot until like 3 days in. And the majority of these scam robots are targeting high level players with idiotic mind or bud brain. "Omg I can sell my tbow to this guy for 20 percent over market price right next to the OSRS gold automatic marketplace he could only purchase it from" kinda dumb.
Do not get me wrong, I really do agree this is an issue that will turn off some new players. But every MMO in the history of ever has issues with stuff like this. It is especially acute at the GE and perhaps worse than some other games, but"2b for?" And"check the youtube connection to win 50m" is far less of a concern than the literal UI of this game.
I believe at this point one of the only thing they could do about gold and robots sellers is to prohibit the gold buyers. These buyers are the only reason why they exist and unlike bot farms they invest time in their character and will not want to take any greater danger.
The core reason is that Jagex does not allocate almost enough funds in to botbusting and anti-cheating. It's absurd to even hope to get a small number of individuals, like 3 or 4, to capture any substantial quantity of rulebreaking.Archeage did to easiest way to make money on runescape buyers. Gold will be eliminated and any items purchased with the gold would be as well.
Regrettably they did those things because they desired to have the gold buyers undergo the in game cash shop.
