Neuro-Navigation System: Enabling Precise Surgery in the Brain
Neuro-Navigation System use some combination of hardware and software components. On the hardware side, these systems consist of a computer workstation integrated with tracking devices that can locate the position of surgical tools in 3D space.
The software coordinates the tracking data with preoperative brain images, usually MRIs or CT scans uploaded before surgery. Using anatomical landmarks, the software maps the 3D rendered images of the brain onto the patient in the operating room.
